Welcome to the Chittenden County Democrats' home page!
Political action is an endeavor that is an important component of a democratic society. While the right to vote is the most fundamental element of the democratic process, there are many other ways that citizens can make their voices heard. Whether you decide to work for a particular candidate, or contribute money to a campaign or a political party, or write a letter to the editor about a candidate or issue that motivates you, you are playing an important part in the political process. Without this kind of participation, our political system becomes susceptible to domination by special interests.
As I once heard Vermont House Speaker Gaye Symington say, "Don’t leave politics solely to those who are inclined to it." Another way of putting it is this: "Politics is every conscientious citizen’s business."
Since you have decided to visit this site, you are probably one of those conscientious citizens. We welcome you in the spirit of engagement and inclusion. Find out who we are and what we’re about.
