THE VERMONT DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEEDS YOUR HELP

Autumn Harvest Rally Phonebanks -
We need help to turn out folks for the Vermont Democrats' big Fall rally. We are having a phone bank in South Burlington on Thursday, October 4th, from 5:30-8PM at 38 Eastwood Drive, Suite 300.

These are easy calls to friendly people. Please email Linda Weiss (lweiss@vtdemocrats.org) if you can help.

Stand with the Burmese People!

After decades of military dictatorship, the people of Burma are rising – and they need our help. Marches begun by monks and nuns snowballed, bringing hundreds of thousands to the streets. Now the crackdown has begun, but the protests are spreading...When the Burmese last marched in 1988, the military massacred thousands. If the world stands up and supports their struggle, this time they could win.

In a race against time, Avaaz.org has created an online petition that targets the dictatorship's main backer, China, in a global advertising campaign, delivering the petition to the UN Secretary-General, advertising it in newspapers around the world, and broadcasting it to the Burmese people via radio. You can sign the petition here: http://www.avaaz.org/en/stand_with_burma/tf.php?CLICK_TF_TRACK

County Reorganization to Take Place October 24th

Now that the town and city caucuses have been held, it's time to get ready for the county reorganization meeting. It will be held on Wednesday, October 24th, 7:00PM, at the Contois Auditorium, City Hall, in Burlington. Delegates to the County Democratic Committee elected at the various local caucuses should plan to attend this first important meeting of the biennium to elect County Committee officers and delegates to the Vermont Democratic Committee. We also hope to organize a number of subcommittees to assist with planning the budget, organizing events, and media communications. Keep an eye on this website for further information.

We're "famous"

Peter Freyne of Seven Days posted a "story" on his blog about the Democratic reorganization caucus in Burlington last night. Congratulations to new Chairman Jake Perkinson, Vice Chair Elisa Nelson and Secretary Eli Lesser-Goldsmith. Dare I call it a Dream Team? So far so good in the process of party reorganization in Chittenden County. If you have any stories or news, please share.
